Endowments

I Started as a Codicil  1982:

With a $10,000 Life Insurance, becoming aBenifactor

Defined: Every thing this page looks like it is all about money, that is why I like the definition of Benefactor, in Funk Wagnalls

which is: One who gives help, or confers a benefit.

The same year, the electric doors were installed, I also used cash value, for the James E West Fellow program, as shown to the right.

I show this page mostly to, let you know how, one can start Endowments small, as my wife an I did, and create programs that, can grow, to as high as you wish, because it will secure Scouting programs for a long time.

It was a proud day, when we became a Heritage Donor defind as:

Heritage Program

"Heritage" is the title given to an original life-size sculpture by Western artist Herb Mignery that depicts a pioneer family. Commissioned by the trustees of the Mid-America Council, this statue is located in the Central Park Mall in downtown Omaha. It was unveiled and dedicated on September 22, 1984 at ceremonies during Omaha's River City Roundup. At the base of the statue, there are bronze plaques affixed which honor those individuals who are participants in the Mid-America Council Boy Scout Heritage Program. These are today's leaders who have given their support with a minimum donation of S 100,000, through a variety of mechanisms, such as: outright gifts, bequests, gifts of insurance policies, trusts, annuities, etc. These individuals have made the decision to help pass on the "Heritage of Leadership" to young people through Scouting.

Then, as shown far right, I became a 1910 Society member in 1998, and Founder's Circle member, in 2000, on the National Endowment program. All of these gifts, will be available, to use, when I pass away: So, I won't see it then, which is why I encourage, promote, and support the FOS programs, as I ask you to do as well.

Yours In Scouting

Benefactor

Program

Benefactors contribute between $5,000 and $99,999 to the Mid-America Council Boy Scout Endowment Fund either as an outright gift now or as a bequest in their will. Benefactors insure the continuation of quality Scouting forever. A certificate and statuette is presented to each donor at an appropriate occasion.

In 1986, because wounds, and Agent Orange, I became permanently disabled, and in 1991, my wife passed, where I became a single parent, of 4. Then in 1993, I became dependent to an electric scooter, to get around, but I would follow up on the plans we set.

In 1994 came Mid America Council's Ground Breaking Ceremoney, for our Scout Service Center:

After it was built, the only problem on accessability, was the doors: So, in 1995, I used a Cash Value, on one of our plans, and donated 4 electric doors.

The favorite part of it is that, my name, which is by the center's elevator, for Handicap Insignias. My name is also on a plaque, where those you were responsible for the funding of the new Service Center, like John Gottschalk, whose name is on our Scout Shop, and is a National Board Member, and a Silver Buffalo.

1st: James E West Fellow:

I used cash value, from one policy, to donate the $1,000. to become a

James E West Fellow

Then the Professional Staff presented my late wife a James E West Fellow in 1997 Posthumously

In 2000 I Received the 1910 Society, and in 2002 the Founders Circle Awards

I was surprised when there was not recognition for the uniform, so I recommended Square Knots, but was happy when they became Devices, to go on the James E West Square Knot in 2002.

James E West Awards Defined:
James West Fellowship Certificate and Devices for Knot Emblem (shown) Description: Knot is composed of green and gold ropes, with the green end worn toward the wearer's right.. Device, if presented, is worn centered on knot emblem Worn by: Male and Female Scouters, youth members The James West Fellowship Award is presented through a local Council to any individual that gives $1000 or more to the local Council's West Fellowship Fund (local Councils have differing names for this special pool) on behalf of him/herself, or another individual to be honored or recognized through membership within the West Fellowship. The money goes to support critical local Council and national programs which have suffered major losses due to diversion of funding for national-level resolutions of risk-management issues. Only registered Scouters or youth members receive and wear the square knot; all contributors receive special invitations to local Council and national West Fellowship Dinners, special publications, and a certificate in addition to some local Council plaques and other items the following additional information was provided by .Robert Rescott): The BSA endowment recognition program also includes these two awards: The 1910 Society, for current gifts of $25,000 or more; and the Founders Circle Award, for deferred gifts with a minimum value of $100,000.The James E. West Fellowship Award embroidered square-knot insignia (shown above) is worn above the uniform left shirt pocket, indicating a Scouter is a James E. West fellow. Membership in the other two endowment programs is indicated by wearing a device on the same knot: the 1910 Society (BSA Supply No. 19118) or the Founders Circle (Supply No. 00929). Robert Rescott was very kind in providing these scans of the two devices shown above along with the certificate. Thanksll. Rare.
