Retention

Preface  Updated 3/17/08

Ultimate Goal

Retention

Retention is the Ultimate Goal in Boy Scouts, which begins with Recruiting Scouts, Families, and Leaders. So, we need the Tools that will make that happen, including training those new Leaders. That is what I have tried to do, in creating this Web Site, which doesn’t have all the answers, and where you Leaders / Commissioners, that visit this site, comes in. During your visit, if you have questions, ideas, concerns, or suggestions, share them in the Contact page, and they will be put in the Contributor’s page, to be shared with other visitors, and myself.

When I was chosen as the ACC for Retention, in 1993, it was specifically, for our Scouts, but as you know, we cannot retain them, until we retain Leaders, who offer a great, Family / Faith based program, and Commissioners that, understand what a great program is. That is why I decided to share my Thesis, for the CCS’s (College of Commissioner Sciences) Doctorate, if for no other reason than, to give you how one Pack, using the 3 Rs (Recruitment, Recognition, and Retention), helped the Pack earn every Award available to them, including the new Great Expectation’s Award, the 1st year it

was available, and has earned it again, this year.

It is my hope that, it reminds you that, having Trained Leaders, is one of the keys, for success, as is recognizing them, for their successes. I am blessed to be in a National Quality Unit, District, and Council, for 2006, and is in line for the same, in 2007.

All we do for Boy Scouts, gives us many rewards, in an out of Boy Scouts, which isn't what we do it for, but for me, I have been blessed, to be a part of Boys Town too, as a youth, then my late wife, and I were Family Teachers, and a parent of our oldest of 4 children, who also Graduated from there. As a result of my service in the BSA, I was also inducted in to their Hall of Fame. Above is what is in their Hall of Fame Book, Click Black Underlined Words for pictur on pdf, if you are interested.
